Lose yourself.
Scare every inauthentic particle
right out
of your limitless sky.
Then you’ll see
what is truly, brilliantly yours
creates awe-inducing sunsets
upon divinity’s canvas.

surrendering to Love
not the article
or person
or plot we’ve attached it to
but the Way of it,
there’s the practice, a
clear path, a
transcendence into
eternal life..
We care for each and all
while knowing
the little deaths,
and the big ones, will play their part
to shape inner and outer landscapes and
deepen connection
to what beautifies
heals
nourishes-
We learn to leave our small selves behind
for something
more
25 Monday May 2015
Olives here taste of rooted earth,
perfume,
undissolved salt…
in minute crystals.
I am as lopsided as any human,
careful with my creations but learning
as often as the sun is rising-
anywhere.
What is golden to my eye may appear blue
to you.
Isn’t that what keeps a day
and a long-stretching night ripe
with intrigue and a mineral calm?
The Aegean waits for my skin
to touch it again.
Fruiting trees observe
with time’s ease and abundance.
My own sorrows are meaningless
in sight of Beauty,
they are salt
added to the Sea.
24 Sunday May 2015
He sits,
this man in his garden,
on an upturned bucket
in the afternoon shade of an olive tree,
smoking a cigarette.
His downward gaze surveys lines
of young plants, his recent work,
and plucks whatever potential-
of lazy thought
of future harvest
of aches, of history-
of each inhalation in his own world
where bees hover
to take him in.
03 Sunday May 2015
a stormy gateway opened… and a golden one closes..
it can be like that
stepping outside yourself
to usher in what’s waiting.
move into an unknown place
and watch
new hands lay claim
to what you thought was yours.
22 Wednesday Apr 2015
Her bones
fall into mine.
Her fight, her grief,
her bite,
in my arms, my legs, this heart,
are embraced.
She lost footing, at last,
giving up land for the sea.
There I swim,
offering her resting place,
and the tender hold
she has hungered for
all along.
11 Saturday Apr 2015
He drives through night,
his fear,
navigating roads with poor eyesight
and the anxiety of loss.
She waits, after 30 years, to release her last breath
upon his arrival.
His mind, his hand, reach for her
through lessening miles.
Following a companionship of sorrow-
reunion comes
in rainbows of falling tears.
Movements,
these delicate movements,
carve the limitlessness of human hearts-
darkness can’t even stop that.
07 Tuesday Apr 2015
Wind rocks the trees
at last.
They’ve been asking when
they’d get to dance,
and only flirtations greeted their longing.
Rain wets singing birds,
the sound enters darkened sky.
Singing in a storm-
fruition of a lifetime’s work.
The invitation is always there.
01 Wednesday Apr 2015
In your cringe
and bite
following another’s ignorant words,
pain.
Not the pain of a current slash of the knife
but of a gash inflicted long before self and other
stepped far enough apart to decide, even,
if they wanted to dance.
Knowing requires time,
recognition of habit a road winding into distant hills-
the shape your tears will mimic.
May strength and a giggle well up
along with each salty drop.
25 Wednesday Mar 2015
Hummingbird scratches
before zipping off her oak twig perch
to import elated business to pine.
Her tongue flashes free a moment
before flight.
One hovering wiggle and the flowers burst
into a contagious grin.
