Center of Storm Wind

Standing at the center of storm wind
bending blasting spinning..
hair blowing sideways with treetops and grass..
limbs clack over head, needles fly,
birds navigate through added force and necessity

Take off shoes, and penetrate that place with your whole being-
offer dynamic stillness while the stir carries everything away.
No one can do it for you.

I let the wind swallow me

While blinking with coyote
I let the wind swallow me.

Three egrets flew upriver,
My eyes swept down
to the mouth
where sweet and salt swirl,
tongues of worlds finding pleasure
in their opposing movements.

Responding to the Rain

Reaching not for the words connecting us now and hurting us later-
the weave of the uncertain
fodder
but assuredly for the wrong fire-
this heart dances in the palm cradling the world.
Thine eye may grab me yet I walk on without whisper
when my words belie the preciousness
of which we are,
for Song is the effortless nature of a forest brook responding to the rain.

bring us pause

Were this all-
the mirage within which we play our games-
colored light on night’s sleeve,
dew resting on lips of the rose,
cricket song the whole day through,
skin brushing skin,
hand on metal hand on stone,
red kettle steaming,
serpent trail through dust,
squash blossoms…
these would not bring us pause~
for in a single breath moves
Eternity

little earthquakes

A belly full of tears
and a heart, salted.
Up that tree the squirrel climbs,
his view and mine,
above and below-
I’ll scamper the fence line
wary of approach,
agile and able
but preferring the limbs of trees..
Those ideas we resist until long after
the speaker departs,
little earthquakes,
blessed uplift and upheaval.
The acacia blooms
and sleep eventually comes,,
flying solo as a lover of humanity
requires courage, with effort
inexplicably granted.
Heavy steps are all for now,
yet feather flight will return
as nature endlessly reaffirms herself,,
fly again fly,
fly, fly…

In the Illumination

In the Illumination
you will wriggle, tug, push free the skin-
your skin- as
equally, it will be wrest from you.
In the remaking, upon looking down,
nothing remains.
And nothing is everything,,
What you thought was you
as forgettable as yesterday’s spent tea-
grateful for the drink it provided but done
so done.
With the infant sight comes
rearrangement
of place, purpose, person,
even in stillness.
Particularly.
While words fall short-
stones thrown across a chasm
only to skitter the scree edge
and drop-
Wait, just wait,
we’ll join
where words are as unnecessary
as stopping the rain.

Bring the Storm

The invisible movements
bring the storm.
The branches respond, as do the greenest grasses;
Faces of hidden ones twitch,
their noses active to the shift-
they need not see,
they know.
Bring the dry in from approaching rain,
place that needing purification
out to wash
in these sky rivers.
The small things, they come
and come and come,
and in the release of their pleasure
more space is created.
Just as, in the endings,
(for they come
and come and come),
the freeing makes room for more.
These tides rise and fall,
rise and fall,
in me
in you,
let us rejoice in the perfect imperfection,,
We’ve always one another
to hold and
let go…

I reside

I reside between fire and water-
air and earth, the circular cradle.
I am the mountain lion
bounding to the glass you stare through,
meeting your gaze to say, Yes,
do not doubt,
it is you I am here for.

After sleeping a century last night,
and meeting day with wet mud toes,
twisting wind brings nuthatches to the branches overhead,
chattering amongst themselves as they swing round,
unbound hair, extensions of the tree,
while new grasses grow,
in a morning when scents sound
of Spring.

Planing Shadows

Lake
broad enough to be a saltless bay,
its water escorted eastward
by unseen hands.
Sun beams from the borderline. –
Malbec. Walnuts. Sautéed carrot,
chive and radish.
Belly smiling. –
A restful afternoon accompanies
piano and tenor saxophone,
the lead on a heart
planing shadows,
hidden corridors,
winding walkways.
Release the hand you hold and stroll
into the dancing unnameable-
She’s the favorable mystification and
impetus
for laughters light
and effortless,
the contagious expression of boundlessness~
True home.

Visible

When duct tape,
won’t hold
anymore,
And the damage finally becomes
visible,
undeniable..
Hawk walking in broken glass..
And the first step in repair
is as obvious as tomorrow-
Questions loom–
Handing out diamonds
as if they were glass.
Unseen chains,
the unexplained weight cutting
wrists,
and this, somehow, accepted
since first inhalation.
No more.
Time to trade self
for Self,,
-that clear water satisfies not only
thirst
but inspires life
by simply
Being.
