Walk with Me

Walking the live growing edge,
Flames of experience lick heels~
In this divine purification,
Ash feeds Earth,
Smoke tendrils rise in prayer, skyward,
Heart’s passion strengthens,
Love becomes boundless,
Devotion deep,
and the weight of gravity,
a welcomed morning blanket
holding us here, joyfully embodied.
By Grace,
Presence expands,
Spark resides…
Come walk with me,
be a light for One
and another-
the view is breathtaking,
the vital pulse ever danceable,
and the space to share,
Infinite.

Guardians

Two white owls
dusted with beige,
perch in pine.
Upon revelation,
visual impact,
I wake with a cry.
From familiar swoop of tree limb,
one faces water, the other
toward opposite earth.
Keeping watch over the unseen,
with them I slept.
Escaped voice suspends forming tears,
a crash out of dream,
surprise vigil.
Guardians.
Cradled in mind,
held in slumber,
worlds animate with closed eyes.

Coyote approaches

Coyote approaches
and, upon sensing me,
sits
gracefully,
slowly
stepping out his front paws
to lay down face to face.
Honor,
a swell, rolls through
in response to such a gift
from the wild.
I’d sweep the skies with bare hands
to bring stars down
to light your way,
weave the needles at my feet
to bring canyon waters to your lips..
but you have all that.
The best I can give is my presence,
gratitude,
a full heart,
and respect for big ears, bushy-furred tail,
and your taste for the unexpected.

Walk slowly

Walk slowly into day-
rabbit is shy.
When the holding of mind releases,
held muscle follows..
With heart carried forward
the jig in each step synchs
in rising rhythm,,
This number may be for two
or twenty,
but always for one and
the grin on a single visage
captivates wonder.
And she deserves to be charmed.

Without your hand

How many pluck the thorn without the rose?
Dancers without smiling hearts,
Climbers ungrasping of height’s uplift,
Farmers possessed not by the soil-
Where are You?
Mystery awakens at the end of dream~
that sorrow and clamour are not
the real movement.
The orchestra of a day,
rising sun, opening flower, resting dog,
starlight-
This play of life delighting any who see
goes on without your hand, or asking,
and isn’t it miraculously so..
For any who stop and breathe and look
will find all the riches
are not only within,
but free.

Laying this body down-
slumber denied, dream delayed-
she comes over me.

And I grow feathers.

From crown,
quills push through skin and
rush earthward..
flaring, fingering,
as ice crystals might broaden or scales overlap,
not resting upon but merging, rooting..
overcoming brow, eyelids now avian.
Beak descends, replacing nose.
Spreading downward,
feathering across shoulder
and ridge of limbs-
strong arm becomes stronger pinion.

Her penetrating vision. Her powered flight.
Protector and guide,
humility and respect give rise
to these wings.

If the twitch

If the twitch of a whisker
isn’t enough,
Or the leaping leg from one puddle
to another,
Or a droplet sliding down glass,
An exhale overheard from the next room,
A patch of sun on tile,
Late afternoon scent of wooden house,
Chocolate perfume from a closed package,
First toe breaking hot bathwater,
Or fog rising, within grab, up the ravine,
Then what is?
Why the hesitation?
All lays before you
in the sublime light, and
quiet dark,
where even moon looks after you
while exploring the Unseen.

Coherence

Bleary-eyed.
Waves continue approaching shore-
Fuzz-minded.
Water breaks, endlessly, on stone-
Anxious-bellied.
Wind gathers east to west-
Skin, dry.
Orchestra of silence in form giving perfect coherence
to overcome the small and blinding
with the unspeakably grand-

an ancient imagined sorrow

≈ Comments Off on an ancient imagined sorrow

The loosening grip of an ancient imagined sorrow
frees up
the rolling giggles of a belly forgetting to stand sentry
against a world prepared to rip everything apart.
Annihilation lays waste to whatever weakens,
and the rebuild, oh the rebuild,
brings unshakable bones, windows welcoming sky,
framing blue and star and cloud,
stained glass casting colored light in beams
where acoustics music cries to court
carry every soulful voice
to heavens protective of all that’s sacred and immortal.

bring us pause

Were this all-
the mirage within which we play our games-
colored light on night’s sleeve,
dew resting on lips of the rose,
cricket song the whole day through,
skin brushing skin,
hand on metal hand on stone,
red kettle steaming,
serpent trail through dust,
squash blossoms…
these would not bring us pause~
for in a single breath moves
Eternity
