When family
is a broken sandcastle,
pick up a stone.
One, tides destroy,
as they must.
The other,
they sculpt.
Hold that stone, and kick
a wide arc of sand, while diving
through salty arctic water,
and build whatever
wherever
whenever you wish,
knowing your creations
protect the royalty
of your own nature.

” ‘Blood is thicker than water’, when used in the context of family over friends, is in fact a wildly incorrect bastardization.
The true, full quote is “The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb,” and refers to relationships forged by choice holding deeper meaning than those of mere biology.”
So says the internet. Grain of salt, but good stuff.
That is salt I’ll use liberally. Beautiful.
